2020 - Current Modern and Contemporary Portuguese Poetry: the look and the writing

Description: This project's central characteristic is to think about modern and contemporary Portuguese poetry from two thematic axes: looking and writing. The first axis - the look - prioritizes the relationship that the poet establishes with the world through vision, that is, it is this sense, whether abstract or concrete, that organizes his entire poetic experience. It is worth highlighting that this mechanism presupposes dialogue with different imaginaries, which necessarily implies a dialectical movement relative to the cultures involved. The second axis deals with the poetic mode of creation, that is, writing thought of not only as metalanguage, but mainly as a mechanism that transfigures the world because it always puts it in question. In both cases, the Portuguese reality will be analyzed in its cultural, political and aesthetic aspects. The theoretical foundation will be based on literary criticism focused on the themes of modernity and post-modernity, poetic creation and suggested interfaces between the humanities. The group of poets to be studied are: Fernando Pessoa, Herberto Helder, Carlos de Oliveira, Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, Luiza Neto Jorge, Manuel António Pina, Luís Quintais, Manuel de Freitas, José Tolentino Mendonça, Adília Lopes, João Luís Barreto Guimarães, among others.

2019 - Current Female literary production in Portuguese

Description: The present investigation aims to produce, based on the analysis of central themes of fictional and poetic texts by Portuguese-speaking writers, a reflection on the representation of historical, ideological, erotic and cultural perspectives. It also intends to investigate how the representation of work relations, social structures and the State are linked to the forms of expression in different countries: Brazil, Portugal and Portuguese-speaking African countries, in which, without a doubt, there is an expressive female literary production. To this end, the central objective will be to expand knowledge about these productions by Portuguese-speaking writers, starting from a theoretical and methodological contribution that systematically brings together the fields of literature and social and human sciences, focusing on an interdisciplinary perspective. Research can be comparative or authorial. Among the authors, we highlight: Adília Lopes, Ana Luísa Amaral, Ana Paula Tavares, Conceição Evaristo, Lilia Momplé, Lúcia Miguel Pereira, Luiza Neto Jorge, Maria Gabriela Llansol, Maria Isabel Barreno, Maria Lamas, Maria Teresa Horta, Maria Velho da Costa, Mel Matsinhe, Paulina Chiziane, Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, Virgília Ferrão, for example.
