projetos de pesquisa

2021 - Current Press and literary circulation in Portuguese

Description: This project promotes the study of literary circulation in the Portuguese-speaking space, focusing on the relations between this space and the former Portuguese colony of Goa and paying attention to the role that Portuguese Literature played in this dynamic, both in the colonial period and in the post-independence period. The project also privileges literary and cultural production disseminated by the press, a medium that greatly boosted the circulation of literature, whether through specialist magazines or through literary sections or notebooks within the so-called "major press". It is, therefore, a question of trying to map and understand the place and role that literature occupied in Goan periodicals, and eventually in other Portuguese-speaking spaces, and to what extent Portuguese Literature functioned as a reference for the cultivation, there, of written production of an artistic nature. The reverse movement will also be the object of research, that is, how much writers from the colonies and, later, former colonies had a place on the stage of Portuguese literature.
