Regulation of the Postgraduate Program in Literature (Portuguese Literature)

I - COMPOSITION OF THE PROGRAM COORDINATING COMMITTEE (CCP)

The CCP will have as full members 3 (three) full advisors accredited in the Program, one of them being the Coordinator and an alternate of the Coordinator, and 1 (one) student representative, each member having his alternate.

II - SELECTION CRITERIA

II.1 Foreign language proficiency:

   Proficiency in a foreign language will have an eliminatory character and will be required at the beginning of the selection process (second notice) for candidates to the Master’s and Doctorate, according to item V of this Regulation.

II.2. Requirements for the Master:

   The CCP will prepare and disseminate detailed information on the selection process in the form of a notice, published in the Official Gazette of the State and on the page of the Graduate Program and the Graduate Service.

   The CCP will establish a Selection Committee composed of members of the Program who will be responsible for conducting the selection process, except for the language proficiency test that will be in charge of the FFLCH/USP Language Center.

   The required documents and the application form will be included in the tender.

   The selection consists of:

1. Test of proficiency in foreign language.

2. Written proof of specific knowledge of Portuguese literature.

   The written proof of specific knowledge of Portuguese Literature is eliminatory, requiring for approval minimum grade five (5.0). The proof, with free consultation of bibliographic material, is based on points that, from the Middle Ages to the 21st century, privilege authors, works and themes related to literary movements. The candidate is expected to present a critical view and not mere repetition of the available bibliography. Clarity, coherence and grammatical correction are also required. The points are, for the knowledge of the candidates, available in the Post-Graduation Sector of DLCV - FFLCH - USP. The test, prepared and applied by the Program Selection Committee, will be held on a previously scheduled date and time, according to the Notice.

3. Analysis and analysis of the Research Project that will have eliminatory character, requiring for approval minimum grade five (5.0).

The project must contain the following items: title, theme, delimitation of the problem to be investigated, hypotheses, justification, bibliography and schedule. The analysis of the project will take into account its insertion in the research lines of the Program, the interest and coherence of the proposal, the relevance and updating of the bibliography and the feasibility of the timeline presented.

Candidates who obtain a grade higher than or equal to five (5.0) may be accepted in the Program, subject to the availability of an advisor.

After the publication of the result of the Selection Process, and in its own form, available on the page of the Program, the candidate will indicate the intended advisor.

The advisors will be defined in a week dedicated to this purpose, through interviews with approved candidates, with date disclosed in the Notice, respecting the availability of vacancies and the lines of research of each teacher. Enrollment may be effected only with the acceptance of the intended advisor.

Foreign students living abroad must undergo the same selection process.

II.3 Requirements for the Doctorate

The CCP will prepare and disseminate detailed information about the selection process in the form of a notice, published in the Official Gazette of the State of São Paulo and on the page of the Graduate Program and the Graduate Service.

The CCP will establish a Selection Committee, composed of members of the Program, who will be responsible for conducting the selection process, except for the language proficiency test, which will be carried out by the FFLCH/USP Language Center.

The required documents and the application form will be included in the tender.

 The selection consists of:

1. Test of proficiency in foreign language.

2. Written proof of specific knowledge of Portuguese literature.

The written proof of specific knowledge of Portuguese Literature is eliminatory, requiring for approval minimum grade seven (7.0). 4. Analysis and interpretation of the Curriculum Lattes (Vitae, for foreigners) that will have an eliminatory character, requiring approval with a minimum grade of seven (7.0).

The project must contain the following items: title, theme, delimitation of the problem to be investigated, hypotheses, justification, bibliography and schedule. Candidates who obtain a grade of seven or more (7.0) may be accepted in the Program, subject to the availability of an advisor.

The advisors will be defined in a week dedicated to this purpose, through interviews with approved candidates, with date disclosed in the Notice, respecting the availability of vacancies and the lines of research of each teacher. Enrollment may be effected only with the acceptance of the intended advisor.

Foreign students living abroad must undergo the same selection process.

II.4 Requirements for the Direct Doctorate

The Graduate Program in Letters (Portuguese Literature) only accepts the transfer to Direct Doctorate of students enrolled at Master level, when, on the occasion of the Qualification exam, a majority of the members of the Examination Board are appointed and the candidate has sufficient time to comply with the requirements for such transfer.

III - DEADLINES

III.1 In the Master’s course, the deadline for filing the dissertation is 30 (thirty) months.

III.2 In the course of Doctorate, for the (a) holder(s) of the title of master, the deadline for filing the thesis is 54 (fifty four) months.

III.3 In the doctoral course, without obtaining a master’s degree (Direct Doctorate), the deadline for filing the thesis is 66 (sixty-six) months

III.4 In any of the courses, in duly justified exceptional cases, students may request an extension of time for a maximum period of 120 (one hundred and twenty) days. The extension of term will be granted only to the student who has completed the required totality of credits in subjects and has been approved in the Qualification Exam.

IV - MINIMUM CREDITS

IV.1 In the master’s course, 96 credits will be required to integrate the course, 24 of which must be completed in subjects and 72 in a dissertation.

IV.2 In the doctoral course, for the holder of the master’s degree, will be required to integrate the course, 168 credits, being 16 mandatory completed in subjects and 152 in thesis.

IV.3 In the direct doctoral course, 192 credits will be required for the integration of the course, 40 of which must be completed in subjects and 152 in thesis.

IV.4 A maximum of 7 (seven) credits may be awarded as special credits for the Master’s, Doctorate or Direct Doctorate courses. Such credits are specified in item XVII - Other Rules of this Regulation.

V- FOREIGN LANGUAGE

The candidate for the Master’s degree may choose, for the proficiency exam (which must be done at the beginning of the Selection Process with eliminatory character - item II.1), a foreign language among the following -  English, French, Italian, Spanish, German. The PhD candidate will be required two languages. The proficiency obtained in the Master will be considered and the student must be approved in another language.

1. For approval in foreign language proficiency, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to interpret text in the language(s) in which they have applied.

2. The foreign language proficiency exams will be conducted by the FFLCH Language Center, as specified in the annual notice. The minimum grade for passing exams is 7.0 (seven). The exam conducted by the FFLCH Language Center has a validity of 2 (two) years.

3. Candidates may also obtain proficiency in a foreign language if they pass one of the following tests, obtained no more than three (3) years after selection:

German: Groβ es Deutches Sprachdiplom, Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom, of the Goethe Institute; English: TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge, Michigan; Spanish: CELU, DELE (Instituto Cervantes). ; Italian: CILS; French: Nancy 3 or DALF (Alliance Française); TCF (Cendotec).

The minimum grade or concept for acceptance of these exams will be published in a specific notice on the Courses’s website and in the Official Gazette of the State of São Paulo.

Other exams and their respective minimum marks may be analyzed by the CCP, upon request of the student.

4. In accordance with the USP Post-Graduation Regulations, foreign students are also required to have proficiency in the Portuguese language (proven at the beginning of the Selection Process - item II.1) demonstrated through an exam conducted by the FFLCH Language Center, having passed the advanced level, or through the Celpe-Bras (MEC) exam, approved at the advanced level.

VI - DISCIPLINES

VI.1 The accreditation or re-designation of subjects is based on analysis of the programmatic content, compatibility with the lines of research of the Course, bibliographic update, curriculum vitae of the ministers and opinion of a rapporteur, heard by the CCP;

VI.2. The responsible teacher must be accredited in the Course as a full advisor, being an active teacher of the Course or collaborator.

VII - CANCELLATION OF CLASSES

1. The cancellation of classes may occur at the request of the minister, for reasons of force majeure, approved by the CCP.

.2 The CCP shall issue an opinion on the request within a maximum of 10 days.

.3 The class cancellation due to lack of students will only occur if there is not the minimum number of enrolled regularly, as requested by the responsible for the discipline, before the beginning of classes established.

.4 The maximum deadline for CCP deliberation, according to the calendar, is up to 2 (two) days before the final date for the beginning of classes.

VIII - QUALIFICATION EXAM (EQ)

The qualification examination is required for both the Master’s and the Doctorate.

The registration for the qualification examination is the student’s responsibility and must be made within the maximum period established by the Course, in this Regulation (items VIII.1.1, VIII.2.1 and VIII.3.1)

The exam must be taken no later than 60 (sixty) days after registration.

The graduate student who does not take the exam in the period provided for his course, will be disconnected from the Course, according to item V of article 52 of the Regulation of Post-Graduation of USP. The Examination Committee, designated by the CCP, shall be constituted, both in the master’s course and in the doctoral course, by three members with a minimum degree of doctor, one of them being the advisor.

 

VIII.1 Master

VIII.1.1 The (A) Master’s student must register for said exam within a maximum period of 15 (fifteen) months after their first enrollment in the course, following the schedule established by the Course and published on the Course page on the Internet.

VIII.1.2. The objective of the Master’s Qualification exam is to evaluate the knowledge acquired by the student in the subjects studied and verify the intellectual maturity related to the development of his research project.

 

VIII.1.3. The following are mandatory requirements for taking the qualification examination:

Have completed all the credits required in Disciplines; Presentation of the Qualification Report that must contain: at least one chapter of the dissertation, besides treating and developing the following topics:

The Qualification Report shall be delivered to the Secretariat of Post-Graduation in three copies at the time of registration of the student(s) in said exam.

In light of these requirements, the Review Panel will examine and judge the relevance, evolution and feasibility of the proposal, as well as the clarity, coherence, correctness of oral and written expressions. The Examination Committee for the Qualification Examination in the Direct Doctorate will be composed of three members with a minimum degree of doctor, one of them being the advisor.

Will be considered passed in the qualification examination, the student who obtains approval of the majority of the members of the Judging Committee. The student who fails the qualification examination may repeat it only once, in a period not exceeding 60 (sixty) days for the registration and delivery of the new report and 60 (sixty) days for the performance of the new exam. If the failure persists, the student will be disconnected from the Course and receive a certificate of the courses taken.

-academic path in the graduate, including school history, achievement, subordination and/ or link of the subjects studied and the works presented with the research developed;

- research proposal and objectives of the work;

- the theoretical basis that underlies the work;

- preliminary results leading to the development and purpose of research;

- present evidence of the continuity of work, within the perspective of the completion of the thesis and within the established deadline.

-academic path in the graduate, including school history, achievement, subordination and/ or link of the subjects studied and the works presented with the research developed;

- research proposal and objectives of the work;

- the theoretical basis that underlies the work;

- preliminary results leading to the development and purpose of research;

The student who fails the qualification examination may repeat it only once, in a period not exceeding 60 (sixty) days for the registration and delivery of the new report and 60 (sixty) days for the performance of the new exam. If the failure persists, the student will be disconnected from the Course and receive a certificate of the courses taken.

 

VIII.3 Direct Doctorate

VIII.3.1. The (A) Direct Doctorate student must register for the qualification examination within a maximum period of 33 (thirty-three) months after their first enrollment in the course, following the schedule established by the Course and published on the Course’s website.

VIII.3.2. The objective of the Direct Doctorate Qualification exam is to evaluate the knowledge acquired by the student in the subjects studied and verify the intellectual maturity related to the development of their research project.

.VIII.3.3. The following are mandatory requirements for taking the qualification examination:

have completed all the credits required in Disciplines; Presentation of the Qualification Report that must contain: a chapter of the thesis, as well as dealing with and developing the following topics:

-academic path in the graduate, including school history, achievement, subordination and/ or link of the subjects studied and the works presented with the research developed;

- research proposal and objectives of the work;

- the theoretical basis that underlies the work;

- preliminary results leading to the development and purpose of research;

- present evidence of the continuity of the work, within the perspective of the completion of the dissertation and within the established deadline.

The Qualification Report shall be delivered to the Secretariat of Post-Graduation in three copies at th time of registration of the student(s) in said exam.

The student who fails the qualification examination may repeat it only once, in a period not exceeding 60 (sixty) days for the registration and delivery of the new report and 60 (sixty) days for the performance of the new exam. If the failure persists, the student will be disconnected from the Course and receive a certificate of the courses taken.

 

VIII.2 Doctorate

VIII.2.1. The (A) PhD student must register for the qualification exam within a maximum period of 27 (twenty-seven) months after their first enrollment in the course, following the schedule established by the Course and published on the Course’s website.

VIII.2.2. The objective of the PhD qualification exam is to evaluate the knowledge acquired by the student in the subjects studied and verify the intellectual maturity related to the development of their research project.

VIII.2.3. The following are mandatory requirements for taking the qualification examination:

Have completed all the credits required in Disciplines; Presentation of the Qualification Report that must contain: a chapter of the thesis, as well as treating and developing the following topics:

-academic path in the graduate, including school history, achievement, subordination and/ or link of the subjects studied and the works presented with the research developed;

- research proposal and objectives of the work;

- the theoretical basis that underlies the work;

- preliminary results leading to the development and purpose of research;

- present evidence of the continuity of work, within the perspective of the completion of the thesis and within the established deadline.

IX - TRANSFER OF AREA OF CONCENTRATION AND COURSE

1 Upon passing the Qualification Examination, and at the suggestion of the Examining Committee, the student may request a course transfer with the supervisor’s consent within a maximum period of 180 (one hundred eighty) days. The Review Panel should issue a detailed opinion, together with the CCPs involved. The CPG will review the request based on a detailed opinion, issued by a rapporteur on the student’s new research project and academic performance.

2 Once the transfer has been approved, the student will be subject to the deadlines and rules of the new course, remembering that, for the purpose of counting the deadline, the entry date in the first course will be considered.

3 For the change of level, the deadlines for the completion of the qualification examination and the minimum credits required for the qualification in the new course, including the concept required in language proficiency, shall be verified against the required level, according to item V of this Regulation. If this deadline has already been exceeded, there is no proof of foreign language proficiency or the minimum number of credits has not been met, the change will not be possible.

X - Unsatisfactory academic and scientific performance

X.1 In addition to the rules established in article 52 of the USP Post-Graduation Regulations, the student may be disconnected from the Graduate Course, in any of the courses, if he or she has an unsatisfactory academic performance, according to the specified in item XVII - Other Standards of this Regulation. The request for disconnection can be made by the advisor, by sending a detailed justification, in writing, about the student’s unproductivity.

X.2 The student may also be disconnected if one of the following occurs:

a. if there is no delivery of the annual report by the deadline set by the schedule established by the advisor, published by the graduate secretariat and on the Course’s website.

. failure of the activity report for two consecutive times.

X.3  The student who has failed his report must arrange for a new report to be submitted within 30 (thirty) days from the date of approval of the failure by the CCP.

X.4. The request for disconnection can be made by the advisor, by forwarding a detailed justification, in writing, about the student’s unproductivity. In these cases, the student must express himself through a written document sent to the CCP. The process should be analyzed by the CCP. In the event of the student’s appeal and sustain, it will be turned off.

XI - COUNSELORS AND CO-COUNSELORS

1 The decision on accreditation of an advisor will be based on his or her scientific performance. The professor will be evaluated for his ability to conduct a research project and generate publications in journals with qualification in the area. Your participation in congresses and post-doctoral internships will be considered. The coordination and participation of the professor in research projects will be valued.

XI.2 The Master’s and Doctoral advisor must necessarily assume didactic activities in the graduate course, teaching at least one discipline every 3 years.

.3 The maximum number of students per counsellor is ten (10). In addition, the counselor may co-mentor up to three (3) students.

.4 All applications for accreditation and re-accreditation of Advisors in the Portuguese Literature Post-Graduation Course must be analyzed by the CCP, which will issue an opinion, judging the applications based on the criteria listed below. The CCP’s decision will be approved by the CPG.

.5 For full accreditation, the lecturer must have supervised at least one master’s thesis or doctoral thesis and published at least one article in a national or international journal, book or book chapter, within the last five years;

XI.6 Accreditation to guide at the Master level:

- have taught at least one subject in graduate school;

- examination of the Curriculum Lattes, with emphasis on intellectual production (scientific and/ or artistic), it is expected that each teacher, per year, meets at least two of the following modalities: book organization, book chapter classified between L2 and L4, article and review in a national or foreign journal with peer review, classified between A1 and B1, complete work in annals of international congresses published abroad or in Brazil, translations of books or chapters, complete work published in conference annals, presentation of papers in congresses or similar events, conferences or lectures, articles or reviews published in newspapers and magazines, preface and organization of events.

- be linked to at least 1 research project.

XI.7. Accreditation to guide at PhD level:

- have taken to the defence at least one master’s degree;

- examination of the Curriculum Lattes, with emphasis on intellectual production (scientific and/ or artistic), it is expected that each teacher, per year, meets at least two of the following modalities:  book organization, book chapter classified between L2 and L4, article and review in a national or foreign journal with peer review, classified between A1 and B1, complete work in annals of international congresses published abroad or in Brazil, translations of books or chapters, complete work published in conference annals, presentation of papers in congresses or similar events, conferences or lectures, articles or reviews published in newspapers and magazines, preface and organization of events.

- be linked to at least 1 research project.

- have taught a subject in the Postgraduate at least every three (3) years.

XI. 9 Recreation of Counselors

a. Effective and regular participation in teaching, research and guidance, proven by the following criteria:

- have taught a subject in the Postgraduate at least every three (3) years.

- be linked to at least 1 research project.

- be orienting at Master’s and/or PhD level

. Intellectual Production (scientific and/ or artistic): follows the same criteria required in the accreditation of Master’s and Doctorate

Greater emphasis is placed on production quality. This criterion rests on two axes: innovation and contribution of the publication to studies in a particular discipline or area. This criterion is measured by the publication in national and international journals considered relevant; by the publication of books and congeners through academic and commercial publishers of recognized prestige.

XI.10 In applications for accreditation of external advisors (Young Researcher, Postdoctoral Student, Visiting Professor, Trainee Researcher and others) the following aspects should be observed:

- Detailed justification of the applicant regarding the innovative contribution of the project to the graduate course;

- Identification of the link of the interested person (ex: young researcher), mentioning the duration of the course and research line;

- Demonstrate the existence of infrastructure (physical, material and/or equipment);

- Demonstrate the existence of resources for financing the proposed project for orientation of the graduate;

 Manifestation of a teacher from the institution or supervisor, with the consent of the head of the department or equivalent, demonstrating agreement as to the use of space for the development of the requested orientation and the maintenance of conditions for the execution of the project of the graduate;

- Curriculum vitae of the interested party must include, if applicable, the completed and ongoing guidelines at USP and outside it.

- Demonstrate the functional situation and the institutional link of the interested party (if the interested party does not prove stable institutional link, the period of stay in FFLCH must be at least 75% of the maximum term for the deposit of the dissertation or thesis).

XI.11 Duration of accreditation:

The accreditation of advisors will be valid for a period of 5 (five years), and may be renewed for the same period.

XII - PROCEDURES FOR FILING THE DISSERTATION/THESIS

XII.1 The final work in the master’s course will be in the form of a dissertation, containing the following items:

- Cover with author’s name, title of the work, place and date;

- Back cover with name of the unit, name of the author, title of the work, name of the supervisor, place and date;

- Abstract in English

- Abstract in English;

- Introduction;

- Results;

- Conclusions;

- Bibliography;

XII.2 The final work in the doctoral course will be in the form of a thesis, containing the following items:

- Cover with author’s name, title of the work, place and date;

- Back cover with name of the unit, name of the author, title of the work, name of the supervisor, place and date;

- Abstract in English

- Abstract in English;

- Introduction;

- Results;

- Conclusions

- Bibliography;

.3 The deposit of copies shall be made by the candidate(s) in the Graduate Service until the end of the last day of their regimental term. Both for the Master’s and for the Doctorate, 8 (eight) printed copies of the dissertation or thesis must be submitted, with 2 (two) bound, as specified in the Course Page on the Internet and SPG, plus a copy of the dissertation in PDF format and its summary, abstract and five keywords in Portuguese and English, in DOC format in digital medium.

.4 The deposit must be accompanied by a letter from the counsellor certifying that the counselor is fit for defense.

.5 The Judging Committees of the defenses of Dissertations and Theses shall be composed by 4 (four) members, 3 (three) being evaluators and chaired by the advisor (or co-advisor), who will participate in the Defense without the right to vote.

XIII - ADDITIONAL FORMS OF STUDENT ASSESSMENT

XIII.1 The reports of activities required by the advisor must be delivered in accordance with the deadlines set and disclosed on the Course’s website. If the activities are not carried out, the supervisor may, by giving a detailed opinion, request the disconnection of the advisor from the CCP, in accordance with the provisions of item X of this regulation.

XIII. 2 The student must attend the orientation meetings scheduled by the advisor; carry out critical readings and writing of the chapters within the deadlines stipulated by the advisor; carry out readings, research and extra studies as requested by the advisor; participate in the meetings of the research group coordinated by the advisor; present the partial results of the research at scientific events and periodically update your Curriculum Lattes.

XIV - WRITTEN EVALUATION IN THE JUDGMENT OF DISSERTATIONS OR THESES

XV - LANGUAGES ALLOWED FOR WRITING AND DEFENSE OF DISSERTATIONS AND THESES

XV 1. In accordance with article 89 of the Post-Graduation Regulations of the University of São Paulo, all Dissertations and Theses must contain title, abstract and keywords in Portuguese and English.

XV.2 The Dissertations and Theses should be written and defended in Portuguese language.

XVI - TITLE NOMENCLATURE

XVI.1 The master’s student who meets all the requirements of the course will receive the title of "Master in Letters". Course: Letters (Portuguese Literature).

XVI.2 The student of Doctorate or Direct Doctorate who meets all the requirements of the course will receive the title of "Doctor of Letters". Course: Letters (Portuguese Literature).

XVII - OTHER STANDARDS

XVII.1 Reports

XVII.1.1 The reports must be submitted annually to their respective advisors, by the deadline set by the CCP, published by the graduate secretariat and on the Course’s website.

XVII.1.2 The reports shall contain:

- Title

- Description of the activities carried out in the period

- Bibliography studied

- Schedule of execution of future activities

XVII.2 Special Credits

A maximum of 7 minimum credits required in the discipline (see item IV) may be granted as special credits for Master’s, PhD or Direct Doctorate courses at the discretion of the CCP.

XVII.2.1 In the case of work(s) complete (s) published (s) in national or international circulation magazine that has recognized editorial body and adequate referential system - 1 credit.

XVII.2.2 Publication of complete work(s) in annals (or similar), of which the interested party is author - 1 credit.

XVII.2.3 Book(s) or chapter(s) of book(s) of recognized merit in the area of knowledge - 2 credits.

XVII.2.4 Participation in scientific congress (s) (s) with presentation of work, whose summary is published in annals or similar - 1 credit.

XVII.2.5 Participation in the supervised internship of the Teaching Improvement Program (PAE) - 2 credits.

For the purpose of assigning special credits, related activities must be performed and proven in the period in which the student is regularly enrolled in the course. Credits related to items XVII.2.1 to XVII.2.4, will only be considered when the student is first author and the subject is relevant to the project of his dissertation or thesis.

Normas do programa

I. COMPOSIÇÃO DA CCP

A Comissão Coordenadora do Programa (CCP) de Literatura Portuguesa da FFLCH/USP será composta por 3 representantes docentes e 1 representante discente, com seus respectivos suplentes.

II. CRITÉRIOS DE SELEÇÃO

A CCP elaborará e divulgará informações detalhadas sobre o processo de seleção na forma de Edital, publicado no Diário Oficial do Estado (DOE) e na página do Programa de Pós-Graduação, incluída no Portal da FFLCH, respeitando o Regimento de Pós-Graduação da USP.
A CCP instituirá uma Comissão de Seleção composta por membros do Programa que se responsabilizará pela condução do processo seletivo, exceção feita à prova de proficiência em línguas que estará a cargo do Centro de Línguas da FFLCH/USP.
A seleção consiste em:
1 - Prova de proficiência em Língua Estrangeira.
O exame de proficiência deverá ser prestado antes do processo seletivo do candidato e terá caráter eliminatório, conforme critérios estabelecidos no item V.
2 – Prova escrita de conhecimento específico em Literatura Portuguesa
A prova escrita de conhecimento específico em Literatura Portuguesa é eliminatória, exigindo-se para aprovação a nota mínima sete (7,0). A prova, com consulta livre do material bibliográfico, baseia-se em pontos que, da Idade Média ao Século XXI, privilegiam autores, obras e temas vinculados aos movimentos literários. Espera-se que o candidato apresente uma visão crítica o mais possível pessoal, e não mera repetição da bibliografia disponível. Clareza, coerência, correção gramatical são também exigidos. Os pontos encontram-se, para conhecimento dos candidatos, à disposição no Setor de Pós-Graduação do DLCV – FFLCH – USP. A prova, elaborada e aplicada pela Comissão de Seleção do programa, será realizada em data e horário previamente agendados, obedecendo ao calendário acadêmico da FFLCH.
3 – Entrevista para avaliação do Curriculum (Lattes, para brasileiros; Vitae, para estrangeiros) e do Projeto de Pesquisa.
Os candidatos aprovados na prova escrita serão entrevistados pela Comissão de Seleção, incluindo o Orientador pretendido. Na entrevista serão julgados o Curriculum Lattes ou Vitae, a clareza, correção e precisão da expressão oral, assim como a importância, interesse, viabilidade e a expressão escrita do projeto de pesquisa, que deverá vincular-se às linhas e projetos desenvolvidos pelo Programa e/ou Orientador pretendido.

III. PRAZOS

- O curso de mestrado, compreendendo o depósito da dissertação, não poderá ser concluído em prazo superior a 36 (trinta e seis) meses.
- O curso de doutorado, para portadores do título de Mestre, compreendendo o depósito da tese, não poderá ser concluído em prazo superior a 54 (cinquenta e quatro) meses.
- O curso de doutorado sem obtenção prévia do título de Mestre (Doutorado Direto), compreendendo o depósito da tese, não poderá ser concluído em prazo superior a 66 (sessenta e seis) meses.

IV. CRÉDITOS MÍNIMOS

- Os candidatos ao grau de mestre deverão integralizar, no mínimo, 96 (noventa e seis) unidades de crédito, obedecendo a seguinte distribuição:
I - no mínimo 24 (vinte e quatro) créditos em disciplinas;
II - 72 (setenta e dois) créditos referentes à elaboração da dissertação.
- Os candidatos ao grau de doutor (Doutorado Direto) deverão integralizar, no mínimo, 192 (cento e noventa e duas) unidades de crédito, obedecendo a seguinte distribuição:
I - no mínimo 40 (quarenta) créditos em disciplinas;
II - 152 (cento e cinqüenta e dois) créditos referentes à elaboração da tese.
- Os candidatos ao grau de doutor, para portadores do título de mestre deverão integralizar, no mínimo, 168 (cento e sessenta e oito) unidades de crédito, obedecendo a seguinte distribuição:
I - no mínimo 16 (dezesseis) créditos em disciplinas;
II - 152 (cento e cinqüenta e dois) créditos referentes à elaboração da tese.
Poderão ser computados até, no máximo, 7 créditos, no total de créditos mínimos exigidos em Disciplinas (conforme item XIV destas normas).

V. PROFICIÊNCIA EM LÍNGUA ESTRANGEIRA

O exame de proficiência deverá ser prestado antes do ingresso do candidato e terá caráter eliminatório.
O exame de proficiência em línguas (inclusive o Português para os candidatos estrangeiros) será realizado pelo Centro de Línguas da FFLCH/USP e será considerado proficiente o aluno que for aprovado no exame aplicado.
O candidato deverá demonstrar proficiência em uma língua estrangeira para o Mestrado e em duas para o Doutorado, podendo prestar exame em Inglês ou Francês ou Alemão ou Italiano ou Espanhol. No caso do Doutorado, com a exigência de duas línguas, a proficiência obtida no Mestrado será considerada e o aluno deverá ser aprovado em outra língua.
Para efeito de processo seletivo, o exame de proficiência dos candidatos nele aprovados terá validade de dois anos.
Candidato estrangeiro deverá também demonstrar proficiência em Português, como parte das provas do processo seletivo.
Exames externos poderão ser aceitos, com a seguinte pontuação mínima:
Alemão: Groβes Deutches Sprachdiplom, Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom, do Instituto Goethe. Pontuação mínima: Aprovado.
Inglês: TOEFL. Pontuação mínima: 550 pontos (exame regular) ou 213 pontos (exame eletrônico)
Espanhol: CELU, DELE (Instituto Cervantes). Pontuação mínima: Nível Intermediário
Italiano: CILS. Pontuação mínima: CILS 4 (equivalente ao B2 (intermediário) na classificação européia).
Francês: Nancy 3 ou DALF (Aliança Francesa); TCF (Cendotec). Pontuação mínima: entre 500 a 699 pontos.
Serão também aceitas as certificações em que o candidato tenha alcançado os seguintes níveis do Quadro Europeu Comum de Referência do Conselho da Europa: C1 e C2.

VI. DISCIPLINAS

Do credenciamento e recredenciamento das Disciplinas:
As disciplinas que compõem o elenco do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura Portuguesa deverão ser credenciadas pela CCP. Assim sendo, todos os pedidos de credenciamento e recredenciamento de Disciplinas deverão passar pela CCP.
Caberá à CCP julgar a oportunidade e pertinência das Disciplinas do Programa, tendo em vista suas Linhas e Projetos de Pesquisa. Assim, para análise das solicitações de credenciamento e recredenciamento de Disciplinas, a Comissão Coordenadora de Programa designará um relator, cujo parecer deverá ressaltar o mérito, a importância e a necessidade da disciplina junto ao Programa, bem como a competência específica dos professores responsáveis pela mesma.

VII. CANCELAMENTO DE TURMAS DE DISCIPLINAS

Turmas de Disciplinas poderão ser canceladas, se não alcançarem o número mínimo de alunos regulares estipulados pelo Ministrante responsável, quando do oferecimento da Disciplina.
O Docente tem o direito de pedir, por escrito e justificado, o cancelamento de turmas de Disciplinas até 10 dias após o início das aulas.
A CCP terá o prazo de uma semana após a solicitação feita pelo Ministrante para deferir o pedido de cancelamento de turmas de Disciplina.

VIII. EXAME DE QUALIFICAÇÃO

O exame de qualificação é obrigatório para os alunos do curso de Mestrado e de Doutorado. Seu objetivo é avaliar a maturidade do aluno na sua área de investigação.
O aluno deverá inscrever-se para o exame de qualificação em até sessenta por cento do prazo máximo para o depósito da dissertação ou tese definido pelo Programa. O exame deverá ser realizado em até cento e vinte dias após a data de inscrição.
São requisitos obrigatórios para a realização do Exame de Qualificação:
1) ter completado dois terços (2/3) dos créditos mínimos exigidos em Disciplinas;
2) apresentar uma monografia sucinta, no mínimo vinte (20) e no máximo quarenta (40) páginas, sobre sua área de investigação, tratando e desenvolvendo os seguintes tópicos:
a) percurso acadêmico na Pós-Graduação, incluindo histórico escolar, aproveitamento, subordinação e/ou vínculo das disciplinas cursadas e dos trabalhos apresentados com a pesquisa desenvolvida;
b) proposta de pesquisa e objetivos do trabalho;
c) a base teórica que fundamenta o trabalho;
d) resultados preliminares conducentes ao desenvolvimento e ao objetivo da pesquisa;
e) evidenciação da continuidade do trabalho, perspectivando a finalização da tese ou dissertação dentro prazo estabelecido.
À luz desses requisitos, a Comissão Julgadora examinará e julgará a pertinência, evolução e exequibilidade da proposta, além da clareza, coerência, correção gramatical das expressões escrita e oral.
A comissão julgadora do Exame de Qualificação no Mestrado e Doutorado será composta de três membros, um deles, no mínimo, externo ao Programa.
Será considerado aprovado no exame de qualificação o aluno que obtiver aprovação da maioria dos membros da comissão julgadora.
O aluno que for reprovado no exame de qualificação poderá repeti-lo apenas uma vez, em prazo não superior a cento e oitenta dias contados a partir da data de realização do primeiro exame.

IX. PASSAGEM DE MESTRADO PARA DOUTORADO DIRETO

O aluno de mestrado poderá se transferir para o curso de doutorado direto, sem apresentação de dissertação, com aproveitamento dos créditos já obtidos, quando, no momento do exame de qualificação para o mestrado, a banca recomendar expressamente, através de parecer circunstanciado, a mudança de curso.
O parecer da Banca deverá ser submetido à aprovação da CCP. Uma vez aprovado, o candidato deverá submeter-se às exigências regimentais definidas para o Doutorado Direto.

X. DESEMPENHO ACADÊMICO INSATISFATÓRIO

Além do desligamento com base no Artigo 54 do Regimento de Pós-Graduação da USP, o aluno matriculado no Mestrado ou Doutorado poderá, a qualquer momento, ser desligado do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura Portuguesa por desempenho acadêmico insatisfatório se ocorrer uma das seguintes hipóteses:
a) reincidência no não cumprimento das correções e propostas de refacções dos trabalhos cujo plano deve ser estabelecido de comum acordo com o Orientador e ser apresentado à CCP em prazo não superior a 90 dias após a primeira matrícula do aluno (Ver Normas Especiais - XIV.2);
b) não comparecimento sistemático e reincidente às entrevistas agendadas com o orientador para discussão da dissertação ou tese ou trabalhos de aproveitamento ou atividades programadas.
Nesses casos, o professor orientador deverá encaminhar pedido de desligamento à Comissão Coordenadora de Programa, que, se aprovar o pedido, encaminhará à apreciação da CPG, salvaguardando-se o direito à defesa do aluno por escrito. No caso de reincidência do pedido de desligamento feito pelo orientador, o aluno será desligado.

XI. ORIENTADORES E CO-ORIENTADORES

Número máximo de orientandos por Orientador
O número máximo de alunos por orientador é dez (10).
Adicionalmente, o orientador poderá co-orientar até três (3) alunos.
Duração do credenciamento
O credenciamento de orientadores será válido pelo prazo de cinco anos, podendo ser renovado por igual período
Credenciamento e recredenciamento de Orientadores
Todos os pedidos de credenciamento e recredenciamento de Orientadores no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura Portuguesa devem ser analisados pela CCP, que emitirá, por meio de um relator, parecer julgando os pedidos com base nos critérios seguintes:
Credenciamento para orientar em nível de Mestrado
a) ter ministrado pelo menos uma Disciplina na Pós-Graduação;
b) exame do Curriculum Lattes, com destaque para a produção intelectual (científica e/ou artística), esperando-se que cada docente, por ano, atenda, ao menos, duas das modalidades contidas no Indicador 1 e/ou 2;
c) estar vinculado a, no mínimo, 1 e, no máximo, 3 projetos de pesquisa.
Credenciamento para orientar em nível de Doutorado
a) ter levado à defesa pelo menos um mestrando;
b) exame do Curriculum Lattes, com destaque para a produção intelectual (científica e/ou artística), esperando-se que, durante o período de orientação no mestrado, cada docente, por ano, atenda, ao menos, duas das modalidades contidas no Indicador 1 e/ou 2;
c) estar vinculado a, no mínimo, 1 e, no máximo, 3 projetos de pesquisa;
d) ter ministrado disciplina na Pós-Graduação no mínimo a cada 3 anos.
Recredenciamento de Orientadores
I. Participação efetiva e regular no ensino, pesquisa, orientação:
a) ter ministrado Disciplina na Pós-Graduação no mínimo a cada 3 anos.
b) Estar vinculado a, no mínimo, 1 e, no máximo, 3 projetos de pesquisa.
c) Estar orientando em nível de Mestrado e/ou Doutorado.
II. Produção intelectual (científica e/ou artística), esperando-se que, por ano, cada docente atenda, ao menos, duas das modalidades contidas no Indicador 1 e/ou 2.
Espera-se que cada docente publique, por ano, ao menos, duas das modalidades contidas no Indicador 1 e/ou 2. Maior ênfase é conferida à qualidade da produção. Esse critério repousa em dois eixos: inovação e contribuição da publicação para estudos de um campo disciplinar ou de uma área determinada. Esse critério é aferido pela veiculação em periódicos nacionais e internacionais considerados relevantes; pela publicação de livros e congêneres através de editoras acadêmicas e comerciais de reconhecido prestígio, bem como pela repercussão do conhecimento manifesta pela freqüência com que sua correspondente referência bibliográfica comparece nos trabalhos acadêmicos e/ou artísticos da área.
Orientações a cargo de Professores Visitantes e docentes externos à USP
Quanto a credenciamento para orientar alunos em Mestrado ou Doutorado, trata-se de orientação autorizada para fins específicos, que alcança orientandos determinados. Neste caso, além dos mesmos requisitos exigidos para os docentes pertencentes ao quadro, avalia-se a pertinência e oportunidade do credenciamento. Os pedidos deverão seguir as seguintes diretrizes:
a) Justificativa circunstanciada da contribuição inovadora para o programa de pós-graduação;
b) identificação do vínculo do interessado mencionando a vigência do programa e linha de pesquisa;
c) demonstrar a infra-estrutura necessária à atividade do docente;
d) demonstrar a existência de recursos para financiamento do projeto proposto para orientação;
e) período de orientação;
f) demonstrar a situação funcional e o vínculo institucional do interessado.
Os critérios de credenciamento e recredenciamento para co-orientadores são os mesmos exigidos para os docentes pertencentes ao Programa.

XII. DEPÓSITO DE DISSERTAÇÃO/TESE

Após cumprimento do programa prescrito, obtenção dos créditos e aprovação no Exame de Qualificação, dentro dos prazos regimentais, o candidato, mediante aprovação do orientador, depositará sua dissertação ou tese na secretaria de Pós-Graduação da Unidade, devendo apresentar os seguintes documentos:
a) 10 exemplares da tese para Doutorado e 8 exemplares da dissertação para Mestrado.
b) guia de Encaminhamento assinada pelo orientador;
c) sugestão de banca assinada pelo orientador;
d) arquivo digital da Dissertação ou Tese, contendo, além do texto integral o resumo do trabalho em português e inglês e 5 palavras-chave em português e o e-mail para contato.

XIII. NOMENCLATURA DO TÍTULO

Ao candidato aprovado no Mestrado ou Doutorado será concedido, respectivamente, o título de Mestre em Letras – Literatura Portuguesa ou Doutor em Letras – Literatura Portuguesa.

XIV. OUTRAS NORMAS

XIV. 1. Créditos Especiais
Poderão ser computados até no máximo sete créditos ao total dos créditos mínimos exigidos por disciplina (ver item IV), no caso do cumprimento, pelo aluno, das seguintes atividades:
1. Trabalho(s) completo(s) publicado(s) em revista de circulação nacional ou internacional que tenha corpo editorial reconhecido e sistema referencial adequado – 1 CRÉDITO;
2. Publicação de trabalho completo em anais (ou similares), do qual o interessado é autor – 1 CRÉDITO;
3. Livro(s) ou capítulo(s) de livro(s) de reconhecido(s) mérito(s) na área do conhecimento – até 2 CRÉDITOS;
4. Participação(ões) em congresso(s) científico(s) com apresentação(ões) de trabalho(s), cujo(s) resumo(s) seja(m) publicado(s) em anais (ou similares) - 1 CRÉDITO ;
5. Participação no Estágio Supervisionado do Programa de Aperfeiçoamento do Ensino (PAE) – 2 CRÉDITOS.
Para fins de atribuição de créditos especiais, as atividades relacionadas deverão ser exercidas e comprovadas no período em que o aluno estiver regularmente matriculado no curso.
Os créditos referentes aos itens 1 a 4, só serão considerados quando o aluno for autor e o tema seja pertinente ao projeto de sua dissertação ou tese.
XIV. 2. Plano de trabalho
Em até 90 dias após a primeira matrícula, o aluno deverá apresentar, de comum acordo com o orientador, um plano de trabalho em que deverão constar especificados atividades e prazos a serem desenvolvidos ao longo de seu curso:
- proposta de pesquisa e objetivos do trabalho;
- a base teórica que fundamenta o trabalho;
- levantamento da bibliografia a ser consultada;
- cronograma de apresentação de tarefas requeridas;
- cronograma do desenvolvimento das fases da pesquisa;
- cronograma para apresentação dos resultados preliminares
- perspectivas de finalização da tese ou dissertação dentro prazo estabelecido.
XIV. 3. Conhecimentos adicionais em Línguas Estrangeiras
Tendo em vista necessidades inerentes ao projeto de pesquisa, o Orientador poderá exigir que o Candidato demonstre conhecimentos noutro idioma que não os acima indicados para a prova de proficiência em língua estangeira, devendo submeter-se a exame realizado por um profissional ou instituição indicado pela CCP.
